David Smick is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson Smick International, Inc. (JSI), a financial market advisory firm based in Washington, D.C. Founded in 1985 (as Smick Medley International Inc.), the firm was the first of its kind to provide strategic informational services on important global economic and political/policy changes to the large macroeconomic-oriented hedge funds and proprietary trading departments of major financial institutions. In 1990 then-Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Manuel H. Johnson joined the firm. Today, JSI clients consist of a select group of prestigious financial institutions located throughout the world.

David Smick is the author of The World is Curved: Hidden Dangers to the Global Economy (Penguin Porfolio, 2008). Selected by former President Bill Clinton as one of the top three books to read on the global financial crisis, the book has appeared on the New York Times Best Seller list. The book was described as “astonishingly prescient” by New York Times columnist David Brooks, “eerily prescient” by Washington Post Columnist David Ignatius, “supremely prescient” by Forbes magazine, and simply “prescient” by the Wall Street Journal. CNN called Smick “one of the most respect economic thinkers in the country.”

Minnesota Soundscapes

The State of Minnesota straddles the convergence of three major ecological zones in the heart of North America: prarie grasslands, eastern hardwood forests and northern conifer forests. Its abundant waters include more than 15,000 lakes, thousands of rivers and streams, the headwaters and upper flowage of the mighty Mississippi River, and a major stretch of the North Shore of Lake Superior.

Overlaid atop this complex geography are several thriving urban centers, vast agricultural and forested regions, a growing diversity of cultures and four distinct seasons. All these elements combine to create a rich palette of both natural and man-made soundscapes.

Building on more than 30 years of work in media production, broadcasting and music recording, audio producer Curt Olson has recently turned his attention toward a new challenge: capturing and sharing the rich sound textures of his native Minnesota.

The Science, History and Cycles of Earth Changes

Robert Felix, a former architect, became interested in the ice-age cycle back in 1991. He spent the next eight and a half years, full-time, researching and writing about the coming ice age. He then concentrated on spreading the word. Robert’s book, Not by Fire but by Ice has achieved international acclaim with readers around the world. Today, Felix continues his research, and is more firmly convinced than ever that the next ice age could begin any day. In fact, he believes it has already begun.

Robert's latest work and NEW BOOK is: Magnetic Reversals and Evolutionary Leaps

In this fast paced, well-written new book, Robert documents how geomagnetic reversals trigger evolutionary leaps and how those leaps recur according to a predictable, natural cycle and why the next 'beat' of that cycle may be due.

“How the Future Happens”
(The Science of Time) of "The Merlin Project" with Futurist Paul Guercio and Physicist Dr. George Hart.

In a world where timing often spells the difference between success and failure, The MERLIN Project® gives you a hedge on the Future. Think of it as a high-tech crystal ball, through which you can glimpse upcoming periods of intense activity or rest that indicate the best (and worst) times for launching projects, initiating and sealing business deals, getting married, scheduling non-emergency surgery, moving, taking on a new job -- in short, when to deal with major life changes, well in advance of their actual occurrence.

The Secret History of Dreaming with Author Robert Moss

What do the first major oil discovery in Kuwait, Mark Twain’s fiction, and Harriet Tubman’s success conducting slaves to freedom via the Underground Railroad have in common? They were all experienced first in dreams.

Dreaming is vital to the human story. It is essential to our survival and evolution, to creative endeavors in every field, and, quite simply…to getting us through our daily lives. All of us dream. Now Robert Moss shows us how our dreams shape world events and why deepening our conscious engagement with dreaming is crucial for our future. He traces the strands of dreams through archival records and well-known writings, weaving remarkable yet true accounts of historical figures who were influenced by their dreams.

In this wide-ranging, visionary book, Moss creates a new way to explore history and consciousness, combining the storytelling skills of a bestselling novelist with the research acumen of a scholar of ancient history and the personal experience of an active dreamer. With eloquent prose, Moss describes beautiful Lucrecia de León, whose dreams were prized by powerful men in Madrid and then recorded during the Spanish Inquisition, as well as the fascinating dream correspondence between Carl Jung and Wolfgang Pauli. Building on the foundation of decades of original scholarship, Moss explores the past yet also reveals lessons that can help us create a better future. The Secret History of Dreaming addresses the central importance of dreams and imagination as secret engines in the history of all things human, from literature to quantum physics, from religion to psychology, from war to healing.

The Secret History of Dreaming restores a missing dimension to our understanding of what drives the human adventure: the vital role of dreams and imagination in science and literature, war and religion, medicine and the survival of our kind. History without the inner side is as shallow as history without economics, and as boring as history without sex. This book makes history fun. On the foundation of decades of original scholarly research and synthesis, it eloquently delivers the necessary past: the lessons that can help us create a better future!
