A Conversation with Author and Speaker Matthew Sanford

“It took a devastating car accident, paralysis from the chest down, and dependence on a wheelchair before I truly realized the importance of my body.”

Matthew has dedicated his life to sharing the fundamental importance of the mind-body relationship. For him, mind-body integration is not just a personal health strategy. It is a movement of consciousness. To take hold, it must be both practical and spiritual, both inspirational and pragmatic. He works on a variety of fronts:

Matthew shares his personal story in Waking: A Memoir of Trauma and Transcendence (Rodale: June, 2006). “I wrote a memoir, not to tell you something about me, but rather to show something about the mind-body relationship.” He also writes periodically for magazines including a two-part article in Experience Life that ran in November and December of ‘06.

As a Yoga teacher, Matthew teaches yoga to people of all abilities but he is a pioneer in adapting yoga for people living with disabilities. “We all live on a continuum of abilities and disabilities,” he says. “The principles of yoga apply to all people, to all bodies.”

TRIALS: the risk/benefit ratio a pharmaceutical thriller by M.E. Smith

A Synopsis

Grant Adams has taken a position at MacPhearson Pharmaceuticals for one reason: to get his daughter, recently diagnosed with bronchiosclerosis, into the country's only clinical trial testing a miraculous new drug to treat the fatal disease. In the multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical industry the primary objective is to develop marketable drugs - but at what cost? In the quest to save his daughter, Grant gets caught in a web of unauthorized research, unethical science, and murder. When he discovers a frightening secret, he is forced to make an impossible choice. Will Grant have the strength to expose the evil that surrounds him and fight for the greater good, even if it means risking the life of his own little girl?

Is the benefit worth the risk?

M.E. Smith has worked in the field of clinical research for nine years as a research technician in a virology laboratory and as a clinical research associate for major pharmaceutical companies and contract research organizations. Smith has additional professional experience working for the FBI, as an investigator in the private sector, and as an inspector for the federal government. The Executives' Wives' Cookbook Committee

A conversation with David Cook and Janet Martin on a delightful new read! By combining David's marvelous paintings with David and Janet's witty and sometimes sarcastic humor, this book not only documents a time in history when Julia Child and Jackie Kennedy brought excitement and nouvelle cuisine to America's Kitchens, but also tells the stories of "the ladies" whose lives revolved around themselves, their cash, their country club, their clothes, their conditions, their Cadillac’s, the click of their compacts, and of course, their right-hand man and handsome hero, The Lawnboy.
