Judy's Savory Poultry Squares

Judy's Savory Poultry Squares

3 oz. package of cream cheese
3 Tablespoons butter, melted
2 cups cooked, cubed poultry (turkey will be more flavorful than chicken)
¼ teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
2 Tablespoons milk
1 Tablespoon onion or chive, minced
thyme (just to taste – about 1/8 to 1/16 teaspoon)
¾ cup seasoned croutons, crushed (Progresso Italian Bread Crumbs makes it easy)
1, 8 oz. can crescent rolls (from the dairy case)

Heat the oven to 350. Blend cream cheese and 2 Tablespoons of the melted butter. Add the next 6 ingredients, and mix well. Separate the crescent roll dough into 4 rectangles. Press the dough out with your hands, to make it a bit thinner, and widen the rectangle. Make sure the perforations are well sealed. Place ¼ cup of the mixture into the center of each rectangle. Wrap them, and seal the dough all around. Again, make sure there are no breaches in the dough. Brush the remaining 1 Tablespoon of melted butter on the top of each, and sprinkle with the bread crumbs. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
Makes 4.
