A Synopsis
Grant Adams has taken a position at MacPhearson Pharmaceuticals for one reason: to get his daughter, recently diagnosed with bronchiosclerosis, into the country's only clinical trial testing a miraculous new drug to treat the fatal disease. In the multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical industry the primary objective is to develop marketable drugs - but at what cost? Smith has worked in the field of clinical research for nine years as a research technician in a virology laboratory and as a clinical research associate for major pharmaceutical companies and contract research organizations. Smith has additional professional experience working for the FBI, as an investigator in the private sector, and as an inspector for the federal government. The author holds degrees in biology, criminal justice, and education. M.E. Smith currently lives in Minnesota.
