The Three “Only” Things with Author Robert Moss

Tapping the Power of Dreams, Coincidence and Imagination

Only a dream? Only a coincidence? Only your imagination? Bestselling author and dream expert Robert Moss says that it’s only through dreams, coincidence, and the workings of the imagination that we can journey to the world beyond the obvious one, a world where we awaken to who we are and who we are meant to become.

“In everyday circumstances, caught up in hurry and stress and other people’s schedules and expectations, we often lose touch with the deeper meaning of life," Robert writes. "We become entangled in problems that cannot be solved on the level of thinking and being we are on. We are unable to recognize the hidden order of events. We become strangers to magic, which is the art of reaching into a deeper reality and bringing gifts from it into the ordinary world. Worst of all, we forget who we are. We do not know where we come from or where we are going, beyond lists and resumes. We do not remember that our lives may have a deeper purpose and be part of a larger story.”

King of the Oilers - The Story of the U.S.S. Chiwawa AO-68 with author Jon L. Strupp.

With entry into World War II, the United States of America faced a daunting task of delivering men and material on two distant fronts on opposite ends of the world. Due to this, a logistical system was developed like never seen before. This book tells the story of the fleet oiler, USS Chiwawa AO-68. How both men and machine, not primarily designed for war, were called from civilian life to defend their country and become part of the backbone of the navy helping to tip the balance in the Allies favor.

Loaded with cargo consisting of kerosene, gasoline, diesel oil, Navy Special Fuel Oil, top side cargo, and passengers, the Chiwawa participated in nine trans-Atlantic convoys, delivering the goods to the European theater. Facing bad weather and the imminent threat of U-boats, the Chiwawa performed the delicate job of refueling the escort ships protecting the convoy while underway. When the war in Europe was won, the Chiwawa was transferred to the Pacific theater to confront ever present mines and two typhoons.

This often overlooked aspect of World War II is examined using U.S. Navy records, crew interviews, diaries, and letters written during the war, telling the Chiwawa’s story through first-hand accounts of life at sea and land while visiting ports throughout Europe, Mediterranean, Caribbean and Pacific. This story is unique because the Chiwawa avoided scrapping after the war to return to civilian use, and serves to the present day on the Great Lakes as the ore carrier M/V Lee A. Tregurtha. About the author...

Jon Strupp is the son of Chiwawa crewman James O. Strupp. Jon was born and raised in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He received a Bachelors degree in Business Administration with a major in finance and a minor in economics from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. He currently resides in Fridley, Minnesota.

Bob Crane and the C. Crane Company

C. Crane’s History:

One saying goes: You better have a good idea or a good education if you want to get somewhere. Good ideas can make radio into a powerful media and C. Crane has been an idea factory for quite some time. We have been on the cutting (even bleeding!) edge of the development of many diverse technological innovations. While none of our ideas are as world changing as making the first radio or inventing the Web, we have been behind many solid advances in existing technology: LED flashlights to wind-up radios with LED flashlights (called the Baygen) and one of the first digital recorders (the CC Recorder). While many firms have dozens or even hundreds of engineers to work on an idea we usually have one or two gifted engineers who are passionate about their work and who know how to think outside the box.

During the last decade, C. Crane put together the final pieces of, and brought to market, the first viable video conferencing system (Vidian) with a realistic cost of only $400. We have set new performance standards in portable radios with our CCRadio line and we developed the powerful Twin Coil Ferrite AM Antenna. There are more than a dozen other products throughout our catalog that were conceived and introduced by C. Crane.

Crane started as a woodworking and design firm over 30 years ago. We will celebrate our 25th year in radio in 2008 with several new radios and some exciting new high-power LED products. Mrs. C. Crane once said: “If you want to see the light at the end of the tunnel then you better build your own tunnel.” C. Crane built its tunnel with the help of the great people that work for us and who are responsible for our success.

Sincerely,

Robert C. Crane, President

Meterologist Frank Watson

Frank’s interest and work in weather began at an early age. At the age of 6 I assisted my father, Meteorologist Bruce Watson, on location in Colorado Springs, Colorado recording cloud development taking a snapshot of the clouds every 15 seconds using a 8mm video camera. Other projects as young youth include the proposed International airport in Ham Lake, MN in the 1970's, the Cooper-Nickel project in Ely, MN. As a teenager I accompanied my father across the state of Minnesota for his research to write and publish the 1975 Minnesota Weather Almanac, which is now known as the Minnesota Weatherguide. At age 16 I worked on a study for the University of Colorado into the effects of the Heat Island in big cities. My duties included the servicing and maintenance of a dozen thermographs located throughout the Twin City metro area. After high school graduation I continued my education at the University of Minnesota before transferring to the University of Wisconsin (Madison) where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology.
