"Science is like a long road paved with observations, ideas, and understandings. From a distance it looks like a smooth strip of ribbon meandering through time. But up close, it can be seen as a rocky road indeed -- a mix of insight and oversight, design and serendipity, precision and error, and implication and revision." J. Marvin Herndon

Understand Earth

Dr. J. Marvin Herndon talks about new scientific theories related to earths beginning, plate techtonics and the future implcations of this new science and new theory about planet earth.

Dr. J. Marvin Herndon is a highly trained scientist who just happens to also be a truly "out-of-the-box" thinker. He was trained as a physicist and holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Chemistry. He was also the hand-picked beneficiary of knowledge from two aging world-master scientists, who had themselves been trained by world-master scientists. Dr. Herndon is known as the originator of the idea that the Earth might have at its center a five-mile-wide natural nuclear reactor, called the georeactor, which is the energy source for the geomagnetic field. Discover magazine in 2002, featured his work and suddenly the scientific community began to take notice. For thirty years, Dr. Herndon has been on a path of discovery that he often refers to as a "logical progression of understanding." Along that path he has had important insights and has made major discoveries in planetary science and, especially, about the Earth.

Dr. Bruce LiptonThe Biology of Belief – Dr. Bruce Lipton began his scientific career as a cell biologist. He received his Ph.D. Degree from the University of Virginia at Charlottesville before joining the Department of Anatomy at the University of Wisconsin’s School of Medicine in 1973. Dr. Lipton’s research on muscular dystrophy, studies employing cloned human stem cells, focused upon the molecular mechanisms controlling cell behavior. An experimental tissue transplantation technique developed by Dr. Lipton and colleague Dr. Ed Schultz and published in the journal Science was subsequently employed as a novel form of human genetic engineering.

The Biology of Belief is a groundbreaking work in the field of New Biology. Author Dr. Bruce Lipton is a former medical school professor (University of Wisconsin) and research scientist (Stanford University School of Medicine). His experiments, and that of other leading-edge scientists, have examined in great detail the processes by which cells receive information. The implications of this research radically change our understanding of life. It shows that genes/DNA do not control our biology; that instead, DNA is controlled by signals from outside the cell, including the energetic messages emanating from our positive and negative thoughts. Dr. Lipton’s profoundly hopeful synthesis of the latest and best research in cell biology and quantum physics is being hailed as a major breakthrough showing that our bodies can be changed as we retrain our thinking.

This book will forever change how you think about your own thinking. Stunning new scientific discoveries about the biochemical effects of the brain’s functioning show that all the cells of your body are affected by your thoughts. The author, a renowned cell biologist, describes the precise molecular pathways through which this occurs. Using simple language, illustrations, humor and everyday examples, he demonstrates how the new science of epigenetics is revolutionizing our understanding of the link between mind and matter, and the profound effects it has on our personal lives and the collective life of our species.

A relaxed, focused state of concentration. That is the definition. But the actual state of hypnosis is a little harder to define. Until recently it was assumed that it was similar to sleep, or that the mind was somehow unconscious. In reality, there is a specific state that the brain enters into when it is receptive to suggestion. This has been discovered on scans during hypnosis. It is not an unusual state of mind, and may feel like you are not in a trance, or in hypnosis. For most people they simply feel relaxed. There is a change in the brain wave activity, similar to that time just before sleep when the alpha state is entered. Your brain's waking state is a beta brain wave, just as you are going to sleep it changes to alpha and then to delta and theta in deep sleep. The alpha state is a very dreamy, pleasant state. During this time the mind is very open to visualizations and creating a rich sensory experience. The more real the experience becomes in the subconscious mind during this state, the more effect it will have on your waking behavior.

Wendi Friesen is fascinated by hypnosis and the effect that suggesting has on our body and mind

She first began studying Hypnosis and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and the potential effects of the waking trance states that are produced with language patterns, covert programming and embedded suggestions.

As she learned hypnosis, she explored deeper states of trance and traveled to seek out trainers in the US and in England, to become an expert.

Studying the effects of thought, belief, placebo and suggestion on our physical state of health and emotion allows her to experiment with her clients to produce dramatic and unusual changes in the health and physical state of a person.
Wendi teaches covert persuasion, hypnotic marketing, and body language.

Wendi’s seminars around the world show the effects of a state of mind that is induced with suggestion.

The combination of over 12 years of research, over 10,000 clients, and 100,000s around the world in seminars and her creative and intuitive mind, has made her an expert in her field.

She is a popular speaker for corporations, sales teams, medical professionals, and athletes.

Recently she appeared on Fox and Friends.

A Conversation with Author and Speaker Matthew Sanford

“It took a devastating car accident, paralysis from the chest down, and dependence on a wheelchair before I truly realized the importance of my body.”

Matthew has dedicated his life to sharing the fundamental importance of the mind-body relationship. For him, mind-body integration is not just a personal health strategy. It is a movement of consciousness. To take hold, it must be both practical and spiritual, both inspirational and pragmatic. He works on a variety of fronts:

Matthew shares his personal story in Waking: A Memoir of Trauma and Transcendence (Rodale: June, 2006). “I wrote a memoir, not to tell you something about me, but rather to show something about the mind-body relationship.” He also writes periodically for magazines including a two-part article in Experience Life that ran in November and December of ‘06.

As a Yoga teacher, Matthew teaches yoga to people of all abilities but he is a pioneer in adapting yoga for people living with disabilities. “We all live on a continuum of abilities and disabilities,” he says. “The principles of yoga apply to all people, to all bodies.”

Founded in 1987, SteppingStone Theatre for Youth Development has become the largest performing theatre for youth in the greater St. Paul area—reaching approximately 60,000 people this year through our Mainstage season and our classes, workshops and residencies in the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota.

The theatre adds to the cultural environment of the community by actively engaging children and youth in the creative and expressive powers of theatre, and enabling young people to participate in and contribute to the rich cultural heritage of our community.

Many of the young people we reach have never been exposed to the arts before and are from lower-income communities. This is the first opportunity many of them have to express themselves and let their voices be heard.

Reaching these youth is the reason for SteppingStone Theatre’s commitment to low ticket prices, scholarships for classes and workshops, discounted residencies for schools and community groups, and assistance with transportation and related issues. Contributed income from foundations, corporations, and individuals in our community plays a vital role in our ability to continue this commitment.

Our programs foster creativity, self-expression and self-confidence; teach children and youth about history, diverse cultures, literature and the arts while making learning engaging and entertaining; and help to create in youth a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
